GUITAR MOSAIC – A mosaic is composed of a variety of little pieces of glass that combine to make

Mary's Guitar Mosaic

Mary’s Guitar Mosaic

something 3-dimensional, unexpected and beautiful.  My musical interpretation is something like that – a variety of little pieces – classical, meditative, celtic and hymns, among others, combined to make something unexpected, refreshing, relaxing and, hopefully, beautiful.

I have loved playing guitar since my early teens but only later in life did I decide to put time and practice into that love and turn it into a passion.  I studied classical guitar for seven years with Jaime Guiscafre and three years with Nathan Wysock.

SONY DSCI have loved to sing even longer than I’ve played guitar. In fact, the original motivation for playing was to accompany myself on Beatles songs.  I had great choral teachers in school and in community choirs and I took voice lessons from Rolliana Scheckler for 3 years.

I play and sing for art shows, parties, receptions, recitals, weddings, funerals and church services.

I feel successful as a musician when even one person goes home feeling better than they did before I played/sang.  I have read widely on the emotional and spiritual benefits of music.  I love to play for friends who are sick.  I used to volunteer at  Agrace HospiceCare, playing bedside for residents, which only strengthened my belief in the healing effects of music.  God is the great healer, and sometimes we get to be a part of that.
